what to bring to the theatre

PUT YOUR CHILD'S NAME ON EVERYTHING! 

ESPECIALLY THEIR DANCE SHOES!

Students are not permitted to leave the backstage area, so please ensure they have everything they need before checking them in.

Preschool Academy

Ages 2-5 years

Please do not bring anything to the theatre for the dancers to take backstage. 

All extra items you bring must stay with the parent/guardian. 

  • Dancers need to arrive in their costumes, with their hair and makeup done and their tap shoes on. 

  • Water and cups will be provided backstage. Please do not bring a water bottle. 

  • babyballet students do NOT need to bring a bag backstage

All Other Academies

Kindy and above

All children must bring and clearly label:

  • All costumes, including accessories

  • Dance shoes, tights (2 pairs), socks and, dance underwear

  • Makeup and lipstick

  • Extra hair spray, gel, hair elastics, bobby pins, bun nets, and safety pins

  • Comb & a hairbrush

  • Healthy snacks, meals and a water bottle with their name on it

  • Please ensure any medication required is packed and clearly labelled with instructions

  • Dancers can bring books, colouring, card games or other non-electronic activities.

We encourage each student to have a plastic container labelled with their name and all belongings. This is the best way to keep organised backstage as they have one place to put everything together.

Please also pack comfortable clothes to wear after performing and for the downtime between the two shows.

FOOD & DRINK

Costumes are easily ruined by food and drink stains. It is essential that dancers have something nutritious to keep their energy up as well as something that won’t stain – this means;

  • NO fast food, junk food, chips, lollies, etc. These foods will be thrown in the bin if they are backstage. Save these kinds of treat foods for after the show. 

  • NO nuts or nut products, as we will be in close quarters and do have some children with nut allergies backstage.

  • NO soft drinks, cordial, poppers or juice as they stain the costumes. This is for both the rehearsal and the concert.

  • Each dancer MUST bring a water bottle with their name on it.

DO NOT BRING:

  • Any valuables (jewellery, watches, fitbits, etc.)

  • iPads or laptops

  • Digital cameras (including mini ones)

  • All students are prohibited from bringing a mobile phone

Bags will be checked at the drop-off point, and any of these items will be removed if found. We appreciate your help in making our backstage area a safe and device-free space for all children.
